Mural Painting: What’s In A Name?

Mural Painting: What’s In A Name?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."
Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

Juliet’s lament declares that it is more important who we are on the inside than what we call ourselves to the outside world. While true, names are important to us. A name can stretch through generations. I love that I’m named after both my grandmothers, two women who mean the world to me.  But most people know me only by my nickname, a nickname chosen by my mom.  A name can be changed to better describe a person, their moment in history, or marital status. Whatever the reason behind their name, people love to have their belongings marked with it. The same goes for their personalized space. Here’s a look at some personalized spaces I’ve painted for private homes, schools , and restaurants:

It’s always “ Miller” time in this Fort Myers Home:

A homeowner’s boat combines his and her names and is painted into a beach scene mural for their bedroom:

Children’s rooms are a delightful space to personlaize:

One of several murals painted down the hallways at East Lee County High School to show school pride:

These home owners requested the name of their air-park home to be banner-ed in their mural:

Of course, restaurants always proudly display their branding:
