Faux Painting: Home Is Where the Hearth Is

Even in sunny Southwest Florida we appreciate he coziness of a fireplace. Granted we light them for ambiance, not heat.  Since most of the fireplace construction is in architectural foam products I’m often asked to faux paint the fireplace or its surrounds to create the warm Mediterranean look  that graces our homes.

Subtle faux glaze gives a warm feel to a neutral interior palette:

Formally bright white the faux painting now allows this fireplace exude warmth without being lit:

The bricks are painted in a variety of honey browns, sienna, umber, and creams

The mantle and hearth are painted in faux marble.

The columns and niches are faux painted in deep bronzes and coppers.

Mural Painting: It’s a Jungle Out There!

The jungle offers and abundance of life -Vines to swing on, monkeys playing, frogs leaping. Jungle theme murals delight both children and adults alike. Here’s a look at jungle murals I've created for the young and young at heart.

You can swing from the vines in this guest room. The closet wall is painted in 3-d form as a stone temple wall in the jungle-complete with real moss! The jungle canopy is created using a bamboo grid. The iron poster was cast and painted as jungle branches:
