Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 5 : Fire Academy

Mural Creation:  ELCHS Part 5: Fire Academy
Firefighters have always had a glamorous air about them. What child hasn’t at one point in their life imagined themselves the hero rescuing people in dire need? Truth is the job is not “glamour” but is most definitely the work of heroes.
East Lee County High School (http://elc.leeschools.net/ ) provides fire- fighting training to their students preparing them for the real world and employment as they leave high school. To learn more about fire fighting careers, visit  : http://www.firerecruit.com/ .

This mural project is sponsored by the ROTC ( www.todaysmilitary.com ). To learn more about firefighting careers within the military visit:  http://www.navy.com/

Thanks again to Olympic Paints (http://www.olympic.com/ ), manufactures of the Latex enamel paints and Minwax (http://www.minwax.com) ,makers of the clear protective coatings being used. Both products can be purchased at your local Lowes ( www.lowes.com )

Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 4: Medical Academy

Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 4: Medical Academy
The medical field has been paramount in every civilization and society. From witch doctors to brain surgeons and everywhere in between, those who can provide healing are among the most revered. I know all too well and all too personally the gift healing hands can give. I am eternally grateful to the pediatrician and pediatric Pulmonologist that saved my daughter’s life. Then many years later the Oncologist who would save my own. So I must admit that I had great joy and a lump in my throat as I painted for the medical academy at East Lee County High School (  http://elc.leeschools.net/ )
The school held a logo design contest among the students. I painted the winning design larger than life along their corridor.

Further along the hallway, an anatomy figure reflects the ROTC
values. The mural project is being sponsored by the ROTC. To learn more about the ROTC, visit: www.todaysmilitary.com

Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 3 : Life Skills

Mural Creation : ELCHS Part 3 : Life Skills
As part of the on-going mural project for East Lee County High-school ( http://elc.leeschools.net )
I am creating mural pieces for their Life Skills classes. These classes are taught by dedicated teachers helping to teach and train children through a wide and varied degree of disabilities. In 2001 The U.S. congress reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. For more information on the “No Child Left Behind Act of 2001” visit :  http://www2.ed.gov/nclb/landing.jhtml
Below is are the two murals for their Life Skills areas:
The overlaid words “Respect” and "Personal Courage" come from the leadership characteristic words of the ROTC which is funding this fun and creative project. For more information on the ROTC visit: www.todaysmilitary.com
Each puzzle piece is blended with two shades of Olympic Latex enamel to create a depth effect.
and will be top coated for protection using Minwax Polycrlic :
Both products are available through  Lowes:
I love my work and am blessed to every day to create, but I must say this area touched my heart and so close to home. My wonderful nephew was diagnosed with an extreme level of autism. So I know first- hand the dedication it takes for these teachers and care-givers.
On Saturday February 8,2014 I had the blessing of being part of a fund raiser for Charlotte County Florida schools for their autism classes. The goal is to ensure that each class will ultimately have the sensory equipment needed for the Life Skills students.
