Even God loves glitter! It’s true and I have proof. Personally, I love glitter. The world needs more of it. Imagine waking up to a whole world covered in sparkles that twinkle like diamonds. It would be breath taking! And so are the finishes created in this shabby chic beach look town home. Painting the House of Sand and Sea Master bedroom finish onto this town-homes center wall and hallway entrance completely transformed the space. The metallic blues and soft greens of the ocean are gently faux painted  in the main living and dining area, replacing the former drab neutral color

The same faux finish is first introduced onto the town-homes wall in the entry way but also features a niche and a center wall section leading into the kitchen that have an added feature-GLITTER ! Not just any glitter- it's God's glitter. It's called mica fluff. They are the silvery glittery flakes that are released when pegmatite is quarried. 

I sealed the mica fluff under a clear gloss top coat so now the "Glitter" dances and sparkles over the metallic faux finish.

But wait there's more...The wall that leads to the kitchen  is also enhanced with mica fluff and now features a wall clock that is completely encrusted with mica fluff. Truly the most glamorous clock in Southwest Florida:

OH! But wait-there’s still more!!! An odd angle wall section that is shared on one side to the hallway and its opposite into the kitchen is also completely sparkled with mica fluff from ceiling to floor. The sparkles match the mica sparkles in the kitchen counter top surface:

As you can see this wall finish totally sparkles. And these sparkly specks of glitter come from the earth- PROOF that even God loves GLITTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Faux Painting: If the Crown Fits-Wear It!!!

Wear a crown and you’re sure to get noticed, just ask Betty Cantrell, the current 2016 Miss America. In today’s pageantry though we’re talking about crowns gracing the top of windows rather than those gracing the heads of contestants walking the runway.

Crown molding makes a perfect statement in today’s interiors. It is both traditional and architecturally modern at the same time. It can be used over draperies, but more often the request is to have crown molding in replacement of fabric cornice boards or fabric draperies. Add some faux finishing and you really have a platform for good taste.

A silver weathered faux finish crowns a master bedroom plantation shutter. The crown molding is installed on sturdy L brackets and industrial Velcro for ease of removal for spring time cleaning.

A soft gray is glazed over stark white on cornices that will grace a modern kitchen:

Once Upon a Time

I love fairy-tales! My mom had purchased a set of Junior Encyclopedias when I was just a toddler. One of the books in the set was filled with Mother Goose rhymes and all sorts of delightful versions of fairy-tales. I would drag that book around all day, waiting for her to read to me. After a few hundred times, she realized she couldn’t skip any of the words because I had them memorized. For those young humans who have only been alive since the introduction of the internet, before your time people used reference books to look up facts and information and children’s stories. It’s true! And you should ask your parents about something called the Dewey decimal system…. But back to fairy-tales…. Although time has changed how children read and view fairy-tales, their love for them has remained. It is so much fun as a muralist to paint fantasy lands and creatures of dreamy imagination. So grab your magic carpet, twist the bed-knob, clap your hands, click your heels three times, scatter pixie dust and believe as we enter through the secret garden into the magical land of make-believe!
