A Touch of Pixie Dust

A touch of pixie dust makes everything better! A few bits of tinkle can make a faux finish become extraordinary! The table below was a typical fare. It as fake brown marble composed of polyester resin scrapes. Nice enough and certainly functional. But it didn’t have the magical flair the client needed to fit her home and personality. So, of course, we transformed it:

Step 1 was to prime the table to allow the paints to adhere. Step 2 was to give it a deep pink almost burgundy base color:

What followed was all the fun parts: faux glazing in various shades of red, pinks, and violets, a few metallic gold veins, some metallic splashes, and a little concoction in extra fine high grade holographic ground “glitter” in all those same colors. Once dry, a high gloss clear urethane is double coated. The look is totally magical!

The room overall was given wall faux finishing and the light treatments were transformed.. For now here's just s sneak peek:
