Finding El Dorado
For hundreds of years
treasure hunters and archaeologists have trekked through the jungles of Colombia
on a quest to discover the lost city of gold, El Dorado. We found it! Right
here in beautiful Southwest Florida. Actually, it’s a stunning Colombian
inspired faux finish wall in golden yellow. My client comes from the tropical
lush country of Colombia and wanted to celebrate the vibrant painted walls of
her city. Walls that are enjoyed for showing their years of age and crumbling
decay. A faux artist’s dream.
The wall is painted
in a vibrant golden yellow and then troweled with textured plasters. I used
Aqua stone and O’Villa. The O’Villa has a gentle grit to it yet glides smoothly.
Glazes were in brown and just a slight touch orange spice for aging. The result
is Eureka! We struck gold!
