Faux Painting: Fifty Shades of Grey

Faux Painting: Fifty Shades of Grey

Grey is all the rage these days, whether it’s Christian Grey from the notoriously popular E. L. James novel (http://www.eljamesauthor.com/books/fifty-shades-of-grey/), the much discussed performance by Jamie Dornan (http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/03/fifty-shades-of-grey-jamie-dornan-dakota-johnson ), make-up lines (http://www.sephora.com ), and even for home décor.

This chic interior is delightful and stunning in shades of grey on the walls and furnishings. Deep Ocean Storm Grey accents the Living room focal wall and makes the kitchen walls sinfully delicious. The balance of the walls are in a soft pebble grey. But it’s the ceiling that takes center stage with a metallic bushes nickel effect:

An étagère originally in colonial oak is faux painted to resemble hammered aged metal using a metallic base primer, deep metallic silver paint, black metallic paint, and finished in a urethane topcoat:

The Dining Room and Entry are faux treated in various shades metallic silvers , pewter golds, and accented in some areas with glass beads:

The guest powder room is fabulous in Deep Ocean Storm Grey and circular shapes of shimmering silver patterned after the fabric treatment used to accent the main rooms windows:
