Once in a while I’m
commissioned to do a portrait. Portrait painters know there is both artistic
excitement and trepidation combined in the request. Artistically its an
exciting challenge. But there is also a real person involved, and you want to
get it right so much that your brain spins. You want the client pleased and you
want yourself pleased. Most of all, it’s humbling that someone places so much
trust in you to paint their portrait. It was honor to paint someone I know I’ve
known for decades now.
