Build That Wall !
No not that wall,
silly. The wall I’m referring to is a rustic rock wall for a family game room.
In keeping with the home’s rustic mood complete
with sliding barn doors, heavy ceiling beams, and dark wood floor the wall
space behind the dry bar area was screaming for a faux finish/ mural. It’s now
painted to appear as an old stone wall complete was foliage growing through and
over the rocks.
It’s always fun painting
rocks because of the mediums you can play around with. Beyond acrylic paints in
both heavy bodied and hi flow, for this wall I added in some Lusterstone in
grays and bronzes. A hint of Luna on a few and the Faux Effects Rust into each
one gave the perfect look and feel. The last step of Van Dyke Brown created the
dimensional trick. Of course, a clear coat protects the wall spaces from
mishaps during game night.
