It looks Just Like Wall Paper!

It Looks Just Like Wall Paper!
“It looks just like wall paper!” As a faux artist I love hearing that comment. It was said by both the customer and wall paper remover. I recently spent quite a bit of time in our beautiful SW Florida city of Naples. The client’s condo was fabulously positioned at one of the most coveted locations. Outside the glass sliding doors all you can see is gorgeous sky and breath-taking views of the Gulf of Mexico. Inside was a different story. The walls inside were covered with silk string wallcovering installed about 20 years ago. Of course, by now sections had faded, some sections had darkened, and there was dust accumulation. Hurricane Irma added water damage to the mix. Once the water damage was remedied, the owners were ready to have the whole place stripped and painted. They loved the look of the silk string but didn’t want to bother with the hassle and headaches wall covering can bring when you practically live in water. But they wanted the same look as their wall covering. The couple is in their mid- 90’s so they felt comfortable keeping things the way they feel most at home. The faux finish result gives the look they love with added benefit of easier care. And even their wall-paper remover was stunned and declared ‘Oh my God, it looks just like their wall covering” !

Here's a tour of the condo:

Another faux painting that mimics wall covering- in this case, the stereo covers are painted to blend in with the client’s wall-covering:
