Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 12: Foreign Language

Mural Creation: ELCHS Part 12: Foreign Language
Hello…¡hola…bonjour…hallo…alo…привет!
It was so much fun creating the Foreign Language murals. As part of the on-going ROTC mural project ( for more on the ROTC , visit: www.todaysmilitary.com ) at East Lee County High School (http://elc.leeschools.net/ )

Each of the ROTC leaderships words (Respect, Loyalty, Duty, Honor, Integrity, Personal Courage, and Selfless Service) were translated into various languages. The languages selected were those that are native to the various students attending at ELCHS. And I owe a thank you to Anton, the Russian student, for helping me with his native dialect. Everyone has been enjoying trying to pronounce the new languages that are now sprawled across the walls.

But the splash doesn’t stop at mere language. A handful of native flags now dance out of the globe.
It started out with six flags, but as the students came up to see what I was painting they requested flags from their country of birth. My only regret is not getting to all of them.  (Side note: some of these flags have a lot of detail!)

Thank you to the makers of the paint products used to create these murals:
* Olympic paints (www.olympic.com), the makers of the latex enamel paints.
* Minwax (www.minwax.com ), the makers of the Polycrylic topcoat.
* Lowes (www.lowes.com ) suppliers of Olympic paint and Minwax products
* Michaels Art & Crafts (http://www.michaels.com/ ) suppliers of the artist acrylics for flag details and acrylic paint pens for word details.
