The Brick and Mortar of Faux Painting & Mural Painting

Big things are built…one brick at a time! Or should I say “painted” one brick at a time.

In a prior article titled “Home Is Where the Hearth Is “ ( http://swanstudiosinc.blogspot.com/2015/04/faux-painting-home-is-where-hearth-is.html), a fireplace that constructed of mock  stark white bricks was featured  showing the bricks now faux painted  in natural warm earth tones. The snow birds ( our term of endearment for our Northern friends who own a home down here in sunny Southwest Florida for their winter months )  returned this year and were ready to continue the home’s transformation.  That transformation included continuing the brick faux painting onto the mock stark white bricks of the kitchen hood-flow. The ornamental relief on top of the brick has now been faux finished to an oil-rubbed bronze metal to coordinate with the kitchen’s center island light fixture.

A closer look:

A brick look can also be painted onto flat walls. Such as the restaurant that was featured in “A Tour of Italy” ( http://swanstudiosinc.blogspot.com/2014/08/faux-finishes-and-murals-tour-of-italy.html) for Mama Nina’s Restaurant. The restaurant recently changed ownership. The new owner requested a few changes to better suit the menu and vibe he will be going for. A future article will reveal the over all new look. But today, here's a sneak peek :

In this faux finish, a brick veneer has been inserted into the sculpted faux finish.
