              When you crave glamour, every space in your home needs something special. Even the tiniest of spaces. This previously plain boring white walled toilet closet now boldly shows off the homeowner's flare and love of the color tropical teal. 

The base color is Sherwin Willaims SW6487. The silver foil is crinkled before applying to the smooth walls. And a gloss clear coat applied to seal the finish.

Glam and Groovy Foil Faux Wall Finish

Every overnight guest should feel welcome. This tropical casita, created especially for the homeowner’s family and friends, delivers privacy, pampering, and oodles of glamour.

The wall across from the custom murphy bed needed something unique. The faux finish is inspired by the oversized mirror frame that flanks the wall.

 

The process was multi step. Using two different tones of metallic paint ( a silver and a taupe), The base was painted on using a spouncing motion with oversized chip brushes. Allow the paint to dry overnight. The next step is to use a small angle art brush the size you want the width of the stripes to be with Wunda Sizing.  These stripes were to be irregular, sort of wavy but not too wavy. Then silver foil is aggressively rubbed on. The Wunda sizing can vary in its time to become “tacky” based on the environment your in. Since this was across the whole wall, I worked the stripes in batches. Once all the stripes are foiled, let everything dry fully. Overnight if possible. The last step is a clear coat. I used Master Clear Coat in Gloss.

Artistic Wall Finish

The primary room should be a joy to enter. It's the first thing you see when you wake each day and the last thing you see when you lay down to sleep each night. The primary room should make your heart happy. Most home typically hang a piece of artwork over the headboard. But the headboard wall can do so much. Even the simplest art piece can become a masterpiece with the right wall finish. Go beyond just paint color and texture. Here's a wonderful example:

An art piece from a big box store was lost on a plain wall. I created the piece's background finish and texture to expand the height and width of the wall. Now the bedroom is a showstopper:

Although the lower portion just peaks out from behind the nightstands, its impact is huge. It gives a well curated look.

And the wall hanging now has a true sense of purpose.
