Glam and Groovy Foil
Faux Wall Finish
Every overnight guest
should feel welcome. This tropical casita, created especially for the homeowner’s
family and friends, delivers privacy, pampering, and oodles of glamour.
The wall across from the custom murphy bed needed something unique. The faux finish is inspired by the oversized mirror frame that flanks the wall.
The process was multi
step. Using two different tones of metallic paint ( a silver and a taupe), The
base was painted on using a spouncing motion with oversized chip brushes. Allow
the paint to dry overnight. The next step is to use a small angle art brush the
size you want the width of the stripes to be with Wunda Sizing. These stripes were to be irregular, sort of
wavy but not too wavy. Then silver foil is aggressively rubbed on. The Wunda
sizing can vary in its time to become “tacky” based on the environment your in.
Since this was across the whole wall, I worked the stripes in batches. Once all
the stripes are foiled, let everything dry fully. Overnight if possible. The
last step is a clear coat. I used Master Clear Coat in Gloss.
