Mural Creation: ELCHS
Part 8: AVID & WICOR
Just about every parent’s dream is for their
child to go to college. As part of the on-going ROCT mural project at East Lee
County High School (http://elc.leeschools.net
) , I painted the AVID and WICOR images
to encourage students to focus on their college and career goals. The AVID
program was set up to ensure a student’s college readiness. Answering questions
like: How do you actually get there? Are there specific high school classes to
take to achieve their ultimate degree and career choice? What criteria is your college choice looking
for on your application?
AVID uses the WICOR
tools to help students reach their college dreams. WICOR stands for Writing,
Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading
