Silver Wood Grain Faux Finish

Silver Wood Grain Faux Finish

Wood Grain Faux Finish is a staple for faux painters. It can transform plan white doors and garage doors to deep rich mahogany, blah kitchen cabinets to a rustic farm finish, and upgrade recycled furniture to a driftwood beach look. But what do you do when you have a traditional golden wood finish cabinet amongst a modern sleek white and light gray interior? Here’s how...

Make sure to use a primer with great tooth. I recently tried out the Valspar Primer  and fell in love with it. I’ve always been a fan of the Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3. On a whim I tried the Valspar bonding primer on a personal project and got hooked. The grip is immediate and stronger than the Bulls Eye 1-2-3. It also dries faster.

I had the pleasure of creating the home’s color pallet a few years ago. So selecting a base color was a breeze. In this case the base color chosen is Analytical Gray SW7051 because it’s that delicate in- between color the shade of sunbaked driftwood.

Light grey mixed with a silver agent by Faux Effects and silver glaze were used to create the wood veins.

Final coat is a C500 Satin Urethane
