Stripping Down to the
Buff
Summer is just around
the corner. Here in Southwest Florida it feels like it’s already started (If
you don’t count the torrential down pours each day since it’s rainy season) But
the rain doesn’t cool things off. It just makes it steamier. All the more reason to strip down and get Buff….
On the walls that is.
Remember the dark
floral wall papers of the early 90’s? I can hear the groans, because some of
you out there still have it on your walls. Like a recent client of mine. Have
mercy! Their beautiful golf course home was stuck in the past. The Master bath
was covered in deep forest green wall covering stripped with pink roses. To
make matters worse the floor layout made absolutely no sense. The shower was
encased in bubble style glass bordered in -you guessed it- brass edges. Which
time had turned shades of black, green, and a safe haven for soap scum to
ferment in. I was asked to come over and see what could be done...uhm,
everything. It started out by stripping the wall paper off. That alone made
such a difference. Even painting on primer made the room more glorious. New floor tiles, new shower tiles, most definitely
an all glass frame-less shower walls and doors, new sink and cabinet, accent
wall tiles, ripped out a tub no one had ever used in 20 years. (That space is
now being used as her seating area but has been painted and tiled so it can
easily have a furniture for storage placed later). And the walls? The walls are
now faux painted in “Buff” colors. With new neutrals and also- very important-
new lighting in daylight bulbs. Now when they get down to the buff the won’t
look sickly green! Always keep in mind the type of bulb and the shade of your
bathroom walls make all the difference in not only how you look in that room-
but ladies if you are doing your make-up in your master bath, the last thing
you need to do is put a pale green cast on your face!
