Faux Painting: Credenza Conversion

Faux painting furniture is a fantastic way to give it new life and new purpose. The color possibilities and styles are endless. As any faux artist can attest it’s rare we have time to make a creation for our own use. November and December were packed with faux finish and mural painting commissions. But somehow along the way I’m delighted I squeezed time in to convert an oak credenza that had served as a dining buffet in my mom’s house into a dry bar for my darling fiancĂ©. A retired Navy man, he has several bottles given to him from various ships and events in his life and they needed a proper place to be both stored and displayed.

The credenza disassembled to receive faux treatments:

The counter top and door insets were stained in dark distressed wood tones. The body of the credenza received a deep bronze base with blue-green top coat with slight crackling and heavy distressing:

After faux painting is complete, furniture pieces receive a clear protective coating.
