Faux Painting: Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Faux Painting: Between a Rock and a Hard Place
Every Faux Finish job is unique and brings with it its own special challenges. Granted most of those challenges are pleasant ones like creating the right texture or selecting the perfect colors. Others….well can be HARD. Not as in difficult, but as in actually hard as Concrete.

I received a call from a home owner in our beautiful island of Sanibel http://www.sanibelisland.com/. She had an open pool put in and the builder pool-scaped using the rocks excavated to make a water fall fountain. Cement had been used to hold the boulders together. Her request was to conceal the cement that varied anywhere from 2 to 6 inches in bandwidth, so that it would appear as part of the rocks. The fountain situated on her open lanai and the waterway now blends in perfectly:

Concrete counter tops and floors can be transformed from urban to Mediterranean with faux marbleizing and , of course, a durable top coat :

This condo floor received faux glazing and a band of marble:

Faux Painting gives this condo kitchen counter-top new life:
