Foil takes walls to a new level of glamour. Perfect for today’s modern palettes and for transitioning from the still left over heavy dark Tuscan feel and moving into a brighter optimistic and gleaming look.

 Silver and champagne gold foil is full on glamour for this guest powder room : 

This previously dark heavy guest powder room received a modern lift by replacing the previous sink cabinet with a wall floating cabinet and a reflective gold- champagne and hint of green foil faux finish on the walls

To create this gorgeous ceilings, a troweled on texture is applied over gold and silver foil:

Be a Flamingo

Be a Flamingo

One of the most flamboyant birds here in SW Florida is the flamingo. What a joyful bird. Fun to look at and such an amazing color. So, it’s not surprising that Astrodurance Bungee Fitness decided to use this fabulous bird as their mascot in the mural at their new location in Cape Coral, Florida. Astrodurance Bungee Fitness is a revolutionary full body training system for rehabilitation and fitness. With one of their moves called “The Flamingo” you know it has to be fun!

The flamingo is painted with their bungee system hanging from a palm branch. Its tropics meets fitness:

The workout area is in two sections. The mural though divided is a continual beach scene. After all, that one of the reason people "flock" to SW Florida:

SW Florida is a glorious place to live. Plenty of sunshine, fresh air, and a relaxed way of life. If the heat gets too much just jump into your swimming pool. Almost every house has one. And if you have your own privacy wall…well- clothing is optional! That’s part of the whimsy of this week’s featured poolside mural… 

A playful take on having your own private beach. Swimwear is painted draped onto a Private Beach sign.

The Private Beach includes its own personal Tiki hut for shade. The thatching and beach extend to the left side wall:

On the right side wall the beach extends ending with a palm tree for transition to what will be the main outdoor wall paint:

And, of course, the beach mural includes some of our delightful wildlife:

Swan Bliss

I was tempted to title this Swan Lake. Ultimately, I resisted and named it for the client whom it was painted for. During a recent revamping of the home, I painted a scene onto a plant shelf. About 10 years ago I had the pleasure of painting Tuscan Faux Finishes throughout the home. The interior is now under- going a transformation into a tranquil nature feel. The new palette features dusky aqua and blues mingled with cream to rust to various bark hues.

For the plant shelf, the first challenge was the original varnish protective coat. Once removed and primed, it was ready for its new scene:

The central portion features 2 Swans to represent the home owners, who decades later are still sweetly in love.

Keeping with the gentle nature feel, the willow tree seemed the perfect botanical choice to flank either side. The edges of the scene fade out making way for the rest of the rust brown shelf to be painted

in Verdigris. ( I used the verdigris collection paints by Faux Effects )

Typically our SWFL sunsets are vibrant. However, the muted colors of sunset are more fitting 

to the serene feel of the piece:

All Roads Lead to the Beach 

Wherever you may have lived previously, when you arrive in SW Florida, you headed to the beach. Maybe you came from the great plains or frozen north. In today’s art wall the homeowners came from New York and New Jersey. And the beach... well sometimes the beach is very close to home...Very -Very close to home. From the series of privacy wall murals this one even includes directional signs:
