The outdoor areas of our homes are a sanctuary. Living in SW Florida means spending sacred time outside on our lanais and lounging in the pool. For privacy, walls typically flank several if not all the sides around the pool. To keep the space from feeling sterile, homeowners choose to have custom murals painted for a tranquil view. A recent homeowner wanted the poolside courtyard to have a Zen vibe.  The walls are now painted with bamboo, foliage from around the home’s landscaping, a few colorful finches, and their own pets sitting amongst the plants. Their yard sculptures sit in front of mural. The over all effect is Florida Zen.

The Cat's Meow

The Cat's Meow

I admit I’m definitely a cat lover. I’ve owned cats most of my life. They’re divine creatures that are bundles of soft furry purring love. Their paws are adorable. Their ears are adorable. Their whiskers are adorable. (Okay, the chucking up fur balls isn’t adorable, but every creature has its faults). It’s always such a joy when I’m asked to include a homeowner’s pets into their custom painted murals. The mural was for an exterior wall surrounding a courtyard pool. I’ll feature the full mural soon. For today though I’m sharing the owner’s sweet elderly cats. 

The cats are painted life size among the painted foliage and rocks just enjoying the day poolside:

The first is a black and white cat with a distinctive moustache marking:

The second is a tan and white Devon Rex known for their Yoda-like ears and large eyes:
