Yachting To the Bahamas Is More Than a Pipe Dream

Yachting To the Bahamas Is More Than a Pipe Dream

Just shy of 8hours from Ft Myers Beach is the Grand Bahamas. Or a mere 2.5 hours if you’re yachting from Miami. That’s where this yacht owner loves to go. I’ve been asked to paint client’s boats in murals over the years and I’ve been commissioned for portraits of people and animals. But this was the first time I had been hired to paint a portrait of a yacht. The name of the yacht is ‘Pipe Dreams “.

The painting is on a 16x24 art canvas panel. The products used are acrylics and mediums by Golden and Faux Crème Colors by Faux Effects. The finished portrait is… picture perfect:

Drone's Eye View

Drones Eye View

We’ve all heard of “bird’s eye view “ but today it would be more accurate to say “drone’s eye view”. That’s what was used for the latest golf mural.

The client’s favorite golf hole at Pelican Preserve Golf Course in Ft Myers, FL:

The scene is painted on a wall shelf:

Formerly, the wall shelf featured a Tuscan Scene. Here's the before and after look:

The side view shows more of the verdigris faux finish treatment.
The shelf received a clear coat of CV500UV in Dull to protect the painting and finish,

Entering the Neutral Zone

Entering the Neutral Zone

Warm neutrals are the new color trend. As cool grey makes a retreat, the warm earth tones enter as the color palette of choice for 2021. From warm beige to dusky hues of passionate clay red and organic greens we always return to mother earth. Previously strong teal and flash bronze come in a more subtle gentle way to bring serenity and calmness to a home. As our homes become more a sanctuary space from an uncertain world.

Recently I had the pleasure of painting a series of ceilings in a home that was making its way out of the prior heavy Tuscan feel into a serene gentle palette. It was actually over my own work from years ago. I love helping homes progress with the times and being part of not just the home’s interior but the client’s lives as we all progress with the changing world.

The central portion of the home now features gentle faux finish neutrals on the ceilings:

( and the art pieces are now inspired from nature- yours truly painted the heron that graces the dining room wall )

The soaring entry transitioned from flash bronze and black to a faux finish in deep earth brown of both matte and metallic.

The walls above are painted in a gentle lighter color of Pavlova.
The feature wall in the main bedroom is in an organic blue green tone.
The architectural piece of the bed is Faux finished in metallic champagne beige.
