Faux Painting: The
Cabinet Meeting
This is one Cabinet Meeting I was happy to attend. Coming
from a corporate back ground, I have had my fill of meeting upon meeting about
meetings for meetings. I’m usually notoriously known to despise meetings, or
what I refer to as “an opportunity to count the ceiling tiles”. I’m not the
only one to feel that way; to quote former;
U.S. President Ronald Reagan …“I
have left orders to be awakened at any time during national emergency, even if
I'm in a cabinet meeting.”
But as I said, this is a cabinet meeting I was pleased to be
a part of… that of a master bath cabinet make-over. Actually the whole room was
done over. The space was small and dark. The actual floor space couldn’t be
changed, but making the correct choices for the room make it seems larger and
certainly brighter. We selected new Mont
Blanc granite for the counter top, a stunning hammered metal sink, sparkling
bath room lights, new soft neutral wall color, and Mustang Builders http://mustangbuilderscorp.com/ completely changed the shower by removing a wall and enclosing the side with
clear glass. For the faux finish I changed plain cream painted cabinets into an
aged crackle effect in grays and umbers that are more suited to the home owners
taste. A larger mirror was installed, Mustang Builders built a custom frame,
and I faux painted the frame to match the new cabinet finish.

to Hit the Beach
Visiting the white
sand dunes of the Pensacola Beaches is one of my favorite childhood memories.
The sunlight sparkling like diamonds on the water, waves crashing, the smell of
tanning lotion, and of course miles and miles of undulating sugar sand. Now days
the beaches for me are a little further south here in Florida. Those of us who
live here, feel blessed to live in paradise. The beach is happy, relaxing, and
soul reviving. Its no wonder that beach scenes are highly requested as custom
murals. Recently I was commissioned to pint a 3D beach scene. Hope you love it
as much as I do ( and the home owner does too ! )

twine are placed into the painting, then painted on to create the fence:

in the same manner in grass:
Once complete, the
mural is given a matte clear coat for protection and to seal in the placed
objects:

Table of Contents: Custom Painted Murals and Faux Finishes on Tables
Be they BIG or SMALL
tables play a major role in our lives. Most of our memories have a table in
them. Did you know that? Think about it for a second…. Home memories: What
reminds you of home? Mom’s home cooked meals- served on a table. Family
decisions and discussions- sitting around a table. Where do your keys go when
you enter your house? –on an entry table. When you watch T.V. where do your
drinks and popcorn go? -on an end table. (I would have said “where does the
remote go”, but it’s usually lost in some vortex) Having guest over for tea or
coffee, where do the cups go? –on a coffee table. Where do you hold a board
meeting? -around a conference table. Having dinner out with friends at a
restaurant, where do you sit? -at a table (OK, sometimes up at the bar, but you
get the idea) Tables are important. So make sure they are spectacular! If you have a favorite table but it’s not
fitting in with your latest decor- have it faux painted and make it the center
piece of attention.
