I’m blessed to live in Southwest Florida! Sunshine! Beaches! And gorgeous foliage! When you think of Florida palm trees soaring up in the air come to mind. Palm trees are one of the most common mural requests I’m commissioned to paint. Sometimes the trees are inside tropical and beach scenes, but quite often are accents around tubs, pools, stairwells, both indoors and outdoors. Besides the beauty of the mural there’s the added benefit of zero maintenance!

I remember as a little girl polishing the silver for my mom before every holiday meal. She, of course, didn’t mind that I actually enjoyed the task. There’s something so elegant in the gleam of real silver. The head board wall below is layered with various silver and cream metallics accented in the upper corners with dimensional stencils (stencil is created by yours truly)

Ceilings look positively divine in silver metallics.

This ceiling is created with a crinkle texture topped in metallics.

Mural Creation: Let’s Hit the Beach!

Let’s Hit the Beach! Or in this case…drive to the beach. A car collector and beach lover had a fun request for me to paint a wrap- around mural in his “man cave” with favorite vehicles and favorite location.

The cars where added from very small photos and in the case of one car, no photo! He pulled up a similar style and then described the rest as I painted it. A bit nerve wracking, but we got it done.

Of course, the beach comes with the necessary tiki bar.

Off with their heads! Okay, so that’s a wee bit morbid…but accurate since the request was for an Aztec Temple. The temple would be used to display Aztec pottery and findings for a novelty store in Naples, Florida.

First step, of course, is to create the sky ...

Terrain and a temple in the background...

Then the background for the temple stones and the stones themselves.

After the stones are painted the floating shelves are installed and painted.
