Snow in Florida

To say it’s been hot this year would be a massive understatement. Here in SW Florida, we’ve hovered in the mid to upper 90’s in what feels like forever. Then you add the heat index ( side note: I feel truly sorry for the person advising on that ) and it puts into the 100s with overheating warnings. Our humidity can be suffocating and in my opinion it feels like a  million degrees. But it’s still paradise here and we never have to shovel snow. Although in the past few weeks I’ve had several people declare they would welcome snow.

As a muralist in Florida chances are slim to ever get the chance to paint a snow scene. I was thrilled when this wolf mural scene was requested because it was a snow scene! Yep snow right here in Florida. It was fun to paint and even better; it was indoors. So that meant painting in glorious air conditioning! ( My God bless the man who invented air conditioning! )

The Glory of the Sunset Sky

The sky at sunset in SW Florida has to be one of the most spectacular views on earth. At sunset the sky radiates in bursts on yellow , orange, magenta, cyan, and violet. True our daytime sky  is glorious and almost always a bright baby blue with perfect fluffy white clouds. But it pales in comparison to our evening sky. So, it is no surprise when I’m commissioned to paint a beach scene mural that the request is for the sky to be at sunset.

Just take a look. Here’s a recently painted mural for a privacy wall in Naples, Florida:

Back To School!

Back To School

It's that time of year again! All the kiddos are headed back to the classroom. Swan Studios Inc wishes all of the students a blessed and prosperous year of  learning, achieving, and growing friendships. Serenity Lotus

Serenity Lotus

Our homes are our sanctuary. Our homes are a place for peace, love, tranquility, and often an escape form a maddening world. Artwork in the home plays a large role in reflecting the inner peace

we’re striving to achieve. Perhaps the peace comes from artwork depicting nature for someone trapped daily in an office setting. Or the artwork is bursting with color to escape the dull gray work.

Whatever the goal or reason it’s always a joy to help clients achieve their artwork desires.

A client in the process of updating her home on an incredible property in Manasota Key is remodeling a lounge area into a reading room.  Her love for the lotus flower, sometimes referred to as the water lily, and her collection of Asian art pieces was the launching pad for a commissioned painting for the room. The request for the art piece was to combine Impressionism and Realism, the tranquility of water, and the pink lotus flower.

The painting titled” Serenity Lotus” is on stretched canvas 30” x 30” with the images painted first in acrylics and then troweled in clear plaster. The result is gentle, peaceful, and serene:
